?> PaulsethPT | Avoiding Neck Pain With Proper Pillow Position

Many of us spend 1/3 of our lives in bed. For this reason, proper pillow positioning is important for preventing neck pain.

Individuals need to position their pillows so that their head and neck are in a neutral position. Whether you lay on your side or on your back (for the sake of your neck, don’t lie on your stomach) pillow height can be detrimental to the well-being of your neck.

If your pillow is too at your head will be excessively extended or side-bent.

If your pillow is too thick your head will be excessively exed or side-bent.

The perfect pillow height is when your head can rest in the middle of your body when lying on your side and in a neutral position while lying on your back.
